Membership Procedure

To become a UCLG-MEWA member, it’s obligatory to become UCLG World Organization member. The members of UCLG World Organization are per se considered as the members of the regional organization members.

For Turkey based applications, municipal council decisions for municipality applications, or provincial council decisions for special provincial administration applications, stating the will to become a member of UCLG (and consequently to UCLG-MEWA), and a written application by related mayor or  special provincial administrator is required.

In accordance with the article 74 of Municipal Law No. 5393, the authorization of Ministry of Interior is required before the membership application is transmitted to UCLG World Organization. After the authorization is taken, the applications are submitted to the World Organization to be taken in UCLG General Assembly, and after the application is accepted the membership procedure is finalized.
